    Unhappy

Im having problems getting the midi/audio sync right in cakewalk 9 with my EWS64XL.
Im starting to get real mad.
I use an amd k6 233mhz with 196mb ram and the sync has worked but after I reinstalled win98 and cakewalk it got real bad.
    Please help!

    Hi Danni!
I really understand why You are getting mad, it?s the same thing about me. I thought the problems would get better if I would buy a new computer. Now I have an AMD T-1000 MHz processor and 256 MBs of RAM, but still the same sync problems.
Yesterday someone gave me the following hint: As the EWS is an ISA card it can depend on your motherboard?s preferences. I have the Abit KT7-100 Raid KX 133 mainboard and installed the PCI and ISA controller drivers for the board...and the sync problems where gone!!!
Unfortunatly my computer crashes now when using wave files in cakewalk or playing games :-(
There must be some kind of conflict between the drivers, I couldn?t figure it out yet! Maybe someone else can help me!

I hope I could help You at least!
    greetings

    ?rs

Okay, problem solved! My computer crashed because of a conflict between the new VIA AGP driver and my ATI Xpert98 graphic card?s driver...now everything works fine, and I enjoy making music again! ;-)

    Thumbs up

I have run the waveprofiler, and wrestled with all types of settings but it still sound like my drummer is drunk or something.
As ?rs wrote; that installing new drivers for the ISA slots and so on helped him, im sorry to say that it didnt help me. Is there any point in changing the buffer characteristics manually? I use "codec play" for playback timing master, no difference is heard using the waveplay devices either. This is weird and frustrating...

    Question

Hmmmm...too bad that You didn?t have any luck with Your ISA driver. The driver I had to install was the PCI to ISA Bridge VIA driver. However, did You try to uncheck that box with reading and writing at the same time? (I do not remember the exact term). Sometimes this helps!

Have you checked the box in the audio configuration of cakewalk?: "use waveout signal for sync" (or something like that, i don?t have my cake here, so i can only remember the idea, sorry.

Have you run the wave profiler of cakewalk?

A last guess: increase the latency time of the wavepipe.

    My 0.2 cents

    Wink

I think I have solved the mystery...
After almost smashing my equipment to pieces, at the brink of sanity, I decided to abandon cakewalk and try Cubase instead.
I installed it, went thru the Asio setup and so on and everything worked just fine. Sync was perfect. Later on, when trying cakewalk again, the sync was ok there too! Somehow Cubase fixed it. Im amazed...I havent tested it fully yet, but cakewalk seems to be in good sync again after the install of Cubase. Does anyone know why? Im not gonna try to figure it out myself, I have given this far to much time already, but if anyone has an idea, please share. Thanks to everyone who tried to help! Thank you Steinberg.
